Choose how to play
Get in the Sea is truly a game for all ages.
From the beginning you can play standard Serpents & Ladders with your young vikings (aged 4+) by simply using the game as a normal board.
–
If you want to up the ante, simply bring into play the ‘Quarry of Skim’ mechanic. The center section of the board required skill as well as luck to work to your own benefit.
–
And finally, work in the card combat to ramp up the strategy.
decide who plays first
Each player takes a single die and rolls. The highest number plays first and all other players follow in a clockwise direction around the board.
–
Any players rolling the same number must reroll until a starter has been discovered.
Choose your end game
This is a very important decision for you to all agree upon.
–
There are three variations of end game available to you to choose from.
–
-
OVERUN – The first past square 100. This is the simplest method to encourage good sport. Simply allow any roll higher than the precise number required to win!
–
-
PRECISE INVASION – The exact number. If they player rolls higher than the required number, then they simply stay put (essentially missing their turn).
–
-
FEIGNED RETREAT – The bounce back. If the number is greater than what is required, simply bounce backwards the remaining number of spaces as shown on the die (watch out for that World Serpent!).
–
Feel free to decide how your little Vikings can win.
The easy way to play get in the sea (for ages 4+)
Players take it in turns to roll the die and move their piece forward the number of spaces shown on the die.
–
If a player lands on a ladder square, they immediately move up it and end their turn at that square.
–
If a player lands on a serpents head square, they immediately move down the length of the serpent and end their turn at that square.
–
If a player rolls a six (6) they roll again. Up to a maximum of three (3) times.
–
The first player to reach square 100 wins!
